Completing 30 years in 2023, the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) is the world’s largest annual beer competition judging both packaged and draught beer. Over 80 industry experts assessed more than 2,800 entries across four days in May, with beers received from Australia and around the world.

Our team is bursting with joy as we proudly announce this year’s results:

Located in Wantirna’s Knox Westfield Ozone precinct, the new brewery provides live entertainment & music with 3 am trading, trivia and a classic pub menu with a modern twist. You will experience firsthand the brewing process, with fermentation tanks forming the backdrop to the rustic bar, as well as an on-display DASHER +FISHER gin distillery.

Slapshot, Urban Alley's Aussie Pale Ale wins as the 3rd best in the world

We are delighted with the results from this year’s World beer cup. Our Aussie Pale Ale, Slapshot, won an international bronze medal in the category “Australian-Style Pale Ale”.

Slapshot was created just a few years ago, and since that we knew that this beer will be extremely successful. A 4.5% ABV beer, moderately bitter, with an inviting aroma of citrus, mango, passionfruit and pine. Like a true Slapshot, this beer hits the mark.

Aussie brewers secure wins at World Beer Cup

The Brewers Association (BA)—the not-for-profit trade group dedicated to promoting and protecting America’s small and independent craft brewers—announced the results of the largest international commercial beer competition, the 2022 World Beer Cup (WBC). The awards were presented in a ceremony Thursday evening at the conclusion of the Craft Brewers Conference® & BrewExpo America® at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Returning after cancellation in 2020 because of the pandemic, the 2022 World Beer Cup was the largest competition to date, with 10,542 entries from 2,493 breweries representing 57 countries.

Entries were evaluated by an elite panel of 226 judges from 28 countries. Competition judging took place in 18 sessions over nine days. Judges bestowed 307 out of 309 total possible awards, reflecting the opportunity for one gold, silver, and bronze award in each of 103 beer style categories.

“The World Beer Cup showcases the incredible breadth and talent of the global brewing community,” said Chris Swersey, competition director, World Beer Cup. “Winning an award at this extremely competitive event symbolizes one of the greatest accomplishments in the art of brewing. Congratulations to this year’s winners on their outstanding achievements.”
